StuffIt Expander does work for macs. It started out as a mac only program but now there is a windows version. You haven't told us your operating system version as required by the forum rules so I don't know which expander to direct you to. Try here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...texpander.html OR here: http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/index.html

StuffIt Expander version 9 can only be used for OS 10.3 or higher. For Mac OS X 10.1 - 10.2 - Version 8. And for Mac OS Classic 8.6 - 9.x - Version 7.

Your Mac OS install disk will most likely have a copy of StuffIt expander on it. So just re-install the appropriate version from there & go to the above site's update page to get an appropriate update if needed.

when i try to open that new program, it says "You cannot run this installer in Mac OSX. You must run this installer while running Mac OS 8.6 - 9.x. Installation cannot proceed." i am soo confused!

Do you have a dual operating system; ie: OS 9 & OSX? If so then you probably have installed stuffit expander for os 9 but not for osx perhaps. Actually the OSX install disk for applications should have an osx version on it. Otherwise you can install the newer one from the link I gave you if you're using OS 10.3 or higher.

Which OSX version do you have? Sounds to me the Stuffit Expander version you have is only for OS 9.

I'm a little confused. Is it a program installer you're trying to open or the stuffit expander installer? It sounds like the version you have on your comp is not the osx version.
