1. Make sure LW is set to use Java 1.5 Setting up Java 1.5.

2. Do a safe boot & repair permissions. ie: reboot whilst holding down the shift key until you see Safe booting message. After it's started up, go to Utilities folder, open Disk Utility & choose Repair Permissions. Then reboot normally & try LW again.

Repairing of permissions is a normal maintenance activity that should be done after installing system updates & programs.

on the second step "reboot while holding the shift key" do u mean to hold the on/off key andshift or just hold down the shift key untill it goes off? or just shut down (apple icon) while holding shift?? (kinda rookie here)

Choose restart, hold down SHIFT key only as it begins to reboot. BTW a safe boot can take considerably longer to start up than a normal restart. Once you see the window showing safe booting you can take your finger off the shift key. More details here SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions

I'd have thought you'd already have it on your system. The question is whether Java 1.4.2 or 1.5 is set as the main one to use.
