Limewire won't install - classic environment no longer supported I have downloaded the upgrade for limewire (limewire 5) on a Mac running OSX Leopard. When I try to load the upgrade I get an error message stating "you can't open the application Limewire because the classic environment is no longer supported". When I downloaded Limewire I deleted the old version because last time I kept it there were problems. I tried to download the free version to see if that would load and then open the upgrade but that doesn't work either. Can anyone help? |

Only time I've seen that message is when I've tried to open an OS 9 program/installer on my intel mac. So you installed LW 5 already by the sounds of it. Try deleting your older LW preferences folder, instructions here Deleting LW Preferences folder in OSX. Also, make sure Java 6 (1.6) is listed fairly high if not on top of the java preferences list: Setting up Java for Leopard Make sure your Java is up to date: Java version used & Updating Java |

Have you tried this: SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions One thought to try is setting up a test account (which can always be deleted later.) And see if it works there; Setting up a Test Account in OSX (click on link) Maybe stief might have suggestions. However, only thought would be going back to LW 4.18 by choosing Classic versions link from the download page. |

Hi Mortfe, Thanks to some sound advice from LOTR I was able to get my Limewire working after reinstalling the old Version 4.18. It still wouldn't work after installing 4.18 but when I reinstalled the latest upgrade it worked fine. Best of luck. |
