I have a macG4. I downloaded the latest version of limewire for a mac and it downloads the songs alright, but when I go to launch it, it will not play. Everything else plays ok, not limewire downloads.

Have you tried to drag the song's icon into iTunes or Quicktime Player?

I have a Mac OS 9.2 imac- I dont know what you mean by dragging the icon- what is the icon? , I normally would double click a song and it would play, and all the songs I had downloaded still play fine but ever since about 2 weeks ago the new ones I downlooad, still download but when I click on the they dont play. I will be sooooo happy if you could help me out! Thanks- or maybe do you know a phone number I could call the company ??? It's really frustrating to me

In the Finder, locate the song files in your Shared Folder. Drag the icon (a little picture with a musical note on it or a blue "Q") into the iTunes Library window. This should play the song using iTunes.

Or, you can use Quicktime Player's Open Movie menu item & navigate to the Shared Folder to play the song files.
