can't get music to play --help!
 

I am using a Mac that is running OS 8.5 and have downloaded Limewire successfully and have actually downloaded a couple of songs. Then I downloaded a player RealPlayer successfully. I still can't get any songs to play. I can't figure out what to do next to play the songs I downloaded from Limewire on my RealPlayer.

mmmmh - I use a iMac OSX and I did not have 2 download anything. The player is built in LimeWire. Go to Library. Click on the song you want to listen to. Press 'to playlist' and then 'launch' . I have no idea how to burn these songs on CD though, but that should work. You have the player controls at the bootom right hand side:D

can't link Limewire to RealPlayer
 

Again, I am using a Mac with 8.5 OS, and for this reason when I downloaded Limewire it came without a player. I then downloaded RealPlayer. There is not an option on the version of Limewire I have to "connect to playlist," and this is precisely what I am not able to figure out at this point. I did figure out how to play songs I have downloaded, though. This can only be accomplished by going to File, then Open File on Real Player. This will allow me to play the songs I have downloaded using Limewire, which are on my hard drive. This is frustrating since I have no way of seeing a playlist. I cannot figure out how to create a playlist at this point using either Limewire or RealPlayer.

well if you can get the songs down on your harddrive or whichever file then you can always go to iTunes and open the file via iTunes. Once its open you double click on the MP3 icon the song has and that should get it straight away into iTunes, you can then burn them to CD or create a playlist from the songs which are on the harddrive/file you've put them in. You are obviously not aware of the limitations of an older Mac. Unfortunately I am. I have tried to download iTunes from Apple.com and my computer is not capable of handling such a program --- the RAM just isn't there. This is precisely why I ended up downloading RealPlayer. I guess I will just have to settle for not having any way of creating a playlist unless there is something on RealPlayer I haven't figured out.

sorry then. No - I am not aware of Apple on anything lower than OS9. I don't think you can create a playlist on the RealPlayer (well I can't either). I have the 'free version'. If you click on Trial and 'upgrade' for 28 days you get the new fully fuctioning one and (again not sure about OS8) they have a programme similar to LimeWire. In that programme you are able to create Playlists and burn CDs. I did not go for it as I think USD 10 per month is a bit much and I was unable to get the settings for the sound changed to something more pleasing to my ear. Also this was the very first month on my iMac and I possibly I was ubale to follow instructions. However you do get a reply from their helpdesk, if you have a question - Ralf:eek:
