![]() Why do I frequently see a window asking for a user name and password? What should I enter. I am a registered user of this forum. Do I have to register somewhere else? I am able to download files but so many of my search choices end up in the incomplete folder and sit there day after day with the requery animation going strong. Occasionally, one will activate. Regards to all. |

![]() I've been getting those request too. I either cancel or type in mumbo jumbo (djfiadnf). Either way there's never any difference that I can tell. What sucks tho, is.... if your away from your puter and these requests for user name password , windows, start popin up, they either delay or sometimes stop the downloads. Deb |

![]() perhaps this will help? http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=18790 If not, a search for "pop-up" might give you more information |

![]() Thank you for the url link. The messages there answer my question. I use a Mac mostly so can't go searching for .dat files easily but will do so on my Microsoft ( I refuse to use the term "PC" in reference to that other computer as I have come to this stage of computer use from Tandy TRS 80 and Amiga) |

![]() You're welcome, Mmethc. BTW--I'm puzzled. I use a mac, and can search for *.dat files very easily, whether invisible or not, in all OS's. Norton would allow ASCI searching of the bytes on the HD. Would an any Intel machine search much differently? BTW, excuse me if I'm off-topic. Let me know and I'll delete this post. |

![]() stief - you are obviously much cleverer than I am - I am just old and stupid. Needless to say, having had a think, by typing .dat into the finder I discovered that there are such files in my mac. Having followed your suggestion and typed "pop-up" into the search facility in this forum I find that my original question is well covered. Thanks again. Yesterday I purchased the Pro version of Limewire and so hope that the pop-ups will disappear. I wonder if the nos. at the top of the window are for a FTP request? I do not intend to find out! Regards. |
