Default Quicktime files won't play

I'm new to Limewire, and I've downloaded some audio files.
But although they have Quicktime icons, they will not open in either the Quicktime player
or with the launch button. I'm using an iMac with OS9

I've tried loading iTunes but that doesn't seem to want to know either.
Nor will the files open in any sound edirting software. Is there a program I can access that will convert to AIFFs

Hi,
What size are the files that you have downloaded & trying to play? Most mp3 are around 4mb in size.

I have never experimented with AIFF's (no need to). So I can't advice there - Sorry.
