Different Port numbers, why?

what is the sense of the different port numbers, see here:

Does Mactella uses more that one listening socket? I also wonder about the other three settings, especially 'Upload' and 'Client', what is the purpose of them?

As I under stand it works just the same as clients over the same port but faster. It takes request in one port and talks to the network on another.
