Unhappy MAC programs

Hi There folks!!

And I thought owning a MAC was the way to go....somebody help me please to understand how this works.
I would like to download programs, but of course something that only works on MAC.
Can I unzip files with MAC?
I tried to install MACZIP, but whatever I downloaded, does not open (.zip file)

Is there a way to select MC only downloads?

So, basically, how to get it on the comp. and then how to get it working, I know I am asking a lot, but thanks if any help comes my way.

Sjef

Default first never download programs from gnutella

Most programs for the Mac are encoded with Stuffit (.sit), stuffit is the best expanded and decoder for the Mac and it's free. It open almost any file you can throw at it, including ZIP.

It could be that the files you downloaded are not for MAC. choose .sit or .dmg files to be safest. After a download completes (watch Mac's window), double click and choose "Reveal in Finder", then double-click the download. This is preferable to the other suggestion (drag-and-drop) because you will have a Finder window open of the folder that will be unstuffed, and the results are more obvious. Then work with the new files/folders (or download again if you get a disk error. If MacZip is not responding, you may need to restart your Mac after the install or reload it. Good luck - and send me a private email if difficulties continue; I'm glad to help.

Cool mac's

do searches with mac listed in the search. Download programs ending in .sit
most programs ending in zip are for IBM type machines.
