Connecting and searching. Help!!!!!!!!

Downloaded Mactella and laucned it. When I tried to connect nothing happened. I tried auto connect. Seemed to be scrolling through a number of addresses but nothing ever happened. After a few minutes my computer wouldn't respond to the pointer. When I connected through gnutella.hostcache.com it said it was connected. However when I tried to search nothing came up. Help!!!!!!!!!

Well, this is depressing. I too have this "issue" I launch, then it just scrolls through some numbers and never does anything else. I type in the search field, but the search button is always shaded.... it sucks!!!

search & download

I am having hookup and search problems - I have a Mac with OS 9.0.4 on Earthlink DSL. I have a brand new version of Gnutella. I tried to find a tune I had seen my brother download the same day - could not find it. I did get one tune downloaded but even when I tried to search for something real common like the B**tles I got NO RESULTS. On others when I did find a tune or artist I couldn't download it. I keep getting a message at the top that says LimeWire:Running the Gnutella Network(Disconnected/No Files Available) I left the machine on all night and got nothing.

Is this a place where I can get help? I've been searching the FAQ's for 2 hours and am getting frustrated.

For help with LimeWire, you should post under the LimeWire thread. Go to "Current Gnutella Client Forums" and there you will find the forum for LimeWire. It seems to be the busiest, with the most help anyway. :)

you guys freakin suck. you don't answer the person's first question but make fun of someone else for asking a question. granted, this isn't the limewire forum, its the mactella forum. you were right to redirect them, but the FIRST person asked a question about mactella. did you answer that question ever? no, you only talked to about limewire. WHAT THE HECK???? that is sooo annoying. what is the answer to the first question????? 4 people experience the same problem, one person talks about limewire. you answer the limewire person's problem, when they aren't even sposed to be here, but not the mactella PEOPLE (note that is plural) problem, when they are in the right space and time. what asses. no wonder no one likes computer people, you don't answer people's questions, you hide your knowledge. jerks. can you swear in here? i would have used swears more.

Yes, I responded to smithkid as I did not have an answer for the first four posts. (Guess I should have said that). Smithkid asked if this was where he/she could get help - for LIMEWIRE. I answered his/her question. There are many people in that forum who can help since it is more widely used.

The Mactella forum doesn't seem to get much help, which is why I'm not using it anymore. I can't get it to work anymore - keeps quitting - but I check back now and then to see if something relevant has been posted. If I see something along the way that I might be able to answer (in any way) I will try.

If I came across as making fun of anyone, it certainly was not intended. I put a smilie there just so that it would come across as a friendly gesture of help as it was meant.

Hope this clarifies things.

Looking in all the wrong places

Wow - I'm just back from a 10 day vacation and some nice person sent me an email referring me to this site. Sorry for asking Mactella folks a question about Limewire - I must have been delerious (again). It's a shame that someone got so upset about the questions & answers. How can anybody get worked up at someone named phlox sniffer? :p

Same problem here for both me and my daughter (two separate computers - two separate Mactella clients). We were able to DL songs, etc. until the middle of May. Since then, neither of us has been able to connect. It simply scrolls through endless numbers until it freezes. Then we have to force quit in order to get out of it.
