Mactella (Macintosh) Mactella has been discontinued. We highly recommend you use an actively developed client instead.

Question Is it my client or the system?

I am new to the whole gnutella thing and I downloaded mactella. I can get connected and can select files but then it just says 0 out of x amount of bytes downloaded. It just sits there like that and never seems to download. Is gnutella that slow? Or is it something else? Should I get a new client? Thanks for any input

I loaded, tried Mactella and I see your problem. Might I suggest you try LIMEWIRE it seems to give more info on what is going on (if anything) as a fellow mac user good luck. I get a lot of Ahh's from other techs.

I've used Mactella for a couple of weeks. I have been able to download several MP3s. The only problem I run into is finding a server that's not busy. When I do find one, the download usually takes a minute or two to start, but then goes without a problem. The downloads do seem to be slower than Napster, but all in all--not too bad.

I downloaded Mactella last night. I get many server busy messages. I got one file transferred after several tries, but the had problems with the second. Even after it connected and downloaded 25% of a 2 Meg file, the server got busy and told me o try later. I later used the reload button, and a push request is sent. But I never get reconnected.

I'm studying the protocol now and will try Lime later.
