I find that hard to believe they have already been using the Gnucleus client for 3 months and that still no excuse.

If I stole you artwork I stuck it in my picture frame and got money from a gallery to display it for over 3 months and then I decided to do my own artwork and chuck yours away later would you mind?

Thats GPL.
Its allowed, BUT you have to include the GPL AND include the sourcecode.
But since the new version doesnt include these things its quite...

Default Jeez

Give them a break, they just took one in the groin from Kazaa.

They are probably disorganized, working long hours, and reeling from the recent blow.

Considering that they are making efforts to comply, I would just chalk it up as a low priority item.

They release, then they clean up the source code and make it presentable over a few iterations.

Now if this went on for months, there might be a problem.

I think Morpheus is an interesting case - this is the first time a commercial entity adopted an open source product and brought with it a user base of millions.

Smile Easy way to tell Morph users about Gnucleus

In Gnucleus and Morpheus you can send the folder/directory name with the result. I've already seen someone who put all their shared files and folders inside a root share folder called

"Morpheus users - Gnucleus is Morpheus with no spyware"

That way morph users will see the message in every hit.

Someone make a song.mp3 about this while adding some comedy or nasty words and a mpg with a naked dancing girl so they will pay attention.
You have to understand the IQ level of people who don't already know that morpheus is a rip off of gnucleus.
If you could print this message on beer cans, that might help too.

Arrow

There are a lot of people that downloaded Morpheus because:

a. They downloaded it because of the name
b. They came from the old Morpheus.

These people know very little of Gnutella and maybe haven't even heard of Gnucleus.

And so their new score is IQ = IQ - 10
It's sort of like walking down a dark alley in a place you don't know. Not a smart thing to do when all the information is easy to find.

Most Morpheus users are still hoping for the real thing which is coming in two weeks (as their website says ;-) and have no intention of using gnucleus.
