i have over 1000 shared items most are reasonably popular. however i have a router so i am firewalled and i can't configure the router. That is why earlier i suggested looking into firewall to firewall transfers so that my connection status doesn't stop me from giving back to the network. |

So in this release what does Morpheus do to address this issue? UPnP support was added which allows Morpheus to traverse a router with Universal Plug and Play enabled ( i.e xbox ready router, wXP needed). Since a majority of users are both wXP and firewalled, it should have a significant effect on increasing the availability of files. Way it works is as long as you have UPnP enabled on your router (many are off by default unfortunately , even linksys), Morpheus will open the ports it needs and put you in a non-firewalled state and close the ports when exiting Morpheus. This means you don't have to manually configure port forwarding which can be a difficult task for some. Morpheus uses UPnP to do it for you ;-), similar to other applications like MSN messenger. will address making it even easier for users to enable UPnP in next release. |

What model router do you have? ( d-link, linksys, netgear, other?) UPnP is supported by all the major router vendors, just depends if it's enabled or not by default -- my guess is you do have support. However you'll also need to be using wXP to take advantage of UPnP at this time. So to check, you'll need to connect to your router's configuration, then likely navigate to the advanced or administration tab depending on your model ( or just check out your routers' documentation). To connect to your router's configuration web panel, in a browser enter http://192.168.1.1 ( where 192.168.1.1 is your gateway). You'll need to know the default user/password if you havent set it already. To double check what your gate way is , go here I can offer more help once i know what model you have , but the above should get you started ;-) |

I have a linksys router. But it is not connected to computer i am using right now. to configure it do i have to use the main 'server' computer? And if UpnP is working, does that mean that morpheus won't tell me i'm firewalled on the network icons? By the way i am on www.zeropaid.com as Jonnyd0986 |

if UPnP is working, morpheus won't show you as 'firewalled' is correct !! you can see if it's actually working in the router by going to the applications/port forwarding section and see that morpheus has openned ports for use. In this section depending on the firmware , may even have a UPnP tab to show only the UPnP enabled ports as opposed to all manually or automatically forwarded ports. good luck! |

aagh i am so stupid!! turns out what i thought was a router was an ethernet adapter. 3 computers in my house share one internet connection. I've turned of my xp firewall. does sharing an internet connection have anything to do with it? |
