Default Trouble connecting to the Gnutella Network through Morpheus!!!

I don't know why I can't seem to connect/stay connected to Gnutella!!!! And sometimes my neo network connection doesn't connect properly either, it says that 'Neo Network Connect

I am STUGGLING to use Morpheus 4.5.0, and I have a DSL connection.. I've tried installing the "Event ID 4226" patch, and have opened and opening the port 6346 twice with the default scope, once for TCP and once for UDP.. I thought that maybe my Service Pack 3?

So far.. in a week, (for hours on end), I've left my laptop on and hoped that I would connect.. so far, I've been connected only ONCE to the Gnutella network.. :S and have downloaded only ONE song. lol............. :P and.. the weird thing is: before that download was completed, Morpheus indicated that it was trying to connect with the Gnutella network again.. but while it was trying, it was still downloading??

I'm trying to connect to the FastTrack network too (since Gnutella isn't working either!!)

Please help, someone...

(P.S, I thought that it may be something to do with my university’s dorms restrictions on the access to the internet, but that can’t be true.. My friend can reliably connect to Gnutella within seconds of opening Morpheus, and download things- and he hasn’t made any adjustments to his ports. :S.. I wonder which Microsoft service pack he’s using. :S

Morpheus has some issues right now related to a recent SP2 update released about a week ago - 4.5.1 will be out soon, and should fix those issues.

http://www.lvllord.de/ has a reversable windows patch that fixes the problem. I haven't heard of anyone having trouble with this patch, but use it at your own risk.

Good Luck,

Risky

Salut MysticMyst, a REAL gnutella client will get you much better results than Morpheus. Try bearshare lite or limewire

Support gnutella, not it's destruction!

Ciao

Are you at school? Work? Is there a router on the network?

Hmm.. I know nothing about rivalry between all the P2Ps.. all I'm really interested in is getting myself some music!!! lol....... yes. X_X

Hmm. I have no idea whether my school's dorms are on a router or not, however, a friend of mine seems to have no problems at all getting on Morpheus.. He can connect immediately.

ANYWAY.. since morpheus wasn't working, I also d/led copies of Ares, eMule, Kazaa lite, and now Limewire. NONE OF THEM WORK. Well. There's still bearshare, but really.. Let's take it at face value; if the latter 4 don't work, what's the chance of bearshare working???

Connecting via dorms is a common issue that arises here. They're generally firewalled. With LW open, click Tools->Options & go to Bug report & click for an example. In the window that appears scroll down to the part that says: "Recieved incoming this session". If it says ‘True’ then LW has no problem with firewalls, but if 'False' it does have a prob. See this link for image example. What's your result, True/False?

That's strange, I thought this thread started off in Gnutella Forums > Current Gnutella Client Forums > LimeWire (Cross-platform) > Connection Problems. My mistake! My comments refer to Limewire. My much earlier comments were out of bounds then. Apologies. Except for Morph's aggressive nature.

yes, it does say false!!!!!!!- although- wouldn't it always say false when the program is still 'connecting'? anyway.. I've had the program open running for a week now, but so far, it hasn't connected even once. xP

Can someone teach me how I can fix the problems so that my laptop can connect to limewire? I need music. badly. -.-;

Thanx!!

We can sort it out. Post a new thread in Connections section: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/forumd...ne=&forumid=22 & list all your tech details: OS version, SP's, Java version, connection type, Java version, LW version, Router type, firewall types, anti-virus apps, where you're connecting from; home, work, school, etc. Any other relevant information that you think may help. Try to make your post descriptive, specific, and clear so members can quickly and efficiently help you. And include mention of your bug report result.
