Thumbs down Connection Refused, Connection Timeout...

After doing a test of over 500 searches, the success rate of actually being able to download a file is about 26%. Why is this so small? Is the architecture for these filesharing programs built inefficiently or is there other problems such as routing and network bottlenecks? Most common problems include Connection Timeouts, Connection Refused, Unable to connect to Host, and the seemingly terminal waits in queues. It just strikes me that all the filesharing applications out there still don't do a good enough job. It's way too cumbersome to try and get a song, file, video, or image. Not sure what the problem is with these filesharing difficulties but hopefully it will be resolved soon. This program would be great if you could actually get the files it displays without running into the myriad of errors and connection problems associated with the hosts.

I've never been able to connect to a single server with napshare, be it morpheus, bearshare, limewire or anything else. The connection times out or gets reset or whatever. The interface is nice, but if you can't download anything, then it's no use trying to promote this program as THE filesharing utility for linux.

n.b. my hosts list is NOT old.

gnutella is a little slower than Napster was because it doesn't have a central server.
don't have any problems, get 80MB files all the time with v1.2 and automation is the way to go, saves lot of time doing it manually do you have a firewall problem?

Switch to gtk-gnutella. You won't regret it as it has everything NapShare has, and much much more.

That's the problem with forked projects like NapShare: unless you get motivated individuals working on the forked copy, it's usually a dead end.
