upload I'm using Napshare behind a firewall (smoothwall), it works perfectly for the download, but nobody can upload from my computer, that's a shame because I have thousands of songs to share! someone can help me? Thank you! local IP:192.168.0.2 , the firewall IP is dynamic. |

Yep, same here. I'm running RH 7.2 and had a high security firewall (block all access) setup then I changed that to medium (block just certain ranges) and finally turned off the firewall but never anyone uploads from me. I don't know if I even need a firewall when I haven't got inetd installed (I suppose for xfs I need it to block 7100 etc.) Thing is I also have Gnotella for Windoze and with it people do upload from me at times. No firewall there. (I'm not sure I use Wincrap often enough to make it worth installing one) |

Well I've been using Napshare for a while now and figured how to get incoming connections (not uploads). The trick is to change the incoming port off 6346 (I think it was) to anything else. Suddenly incoming! Very useful since outgoing often take a lot of time sorting through all until it gets a connect. Incoming are always connected up to the limit you set. A good trick is to initially set min connections to 12 or something high to quickly get that 1st outgoing and then lower it to 1 and let the incoming be the rest (because you only get incoming once you've set the first outgoing). As regards uploads I am willing to baldly state that Napshare 1.0 must be defective because gnut does work for uploads! TINY0 |

As regards my previous post. Ahem. Whenever I say something is definitively so... well it always comes back to bite me. I finally got an upload in Napshare. I guess changing the port not only fixed the incoming connections but also allows uploads now. I just got one. Whee. So I don't have to use GNUT (although it's good too - but console based which is somewhat difficult to use I find because of the inferior way it presents search results for one thing). TINY0 |
