Default A few simple ideas.. nevermind all the complicated crap

1. Resume failed downloads from any host based on checksum

2. User definable extension criteria. (Ie. Define what extensions make up the "Documents" group)

3. Mousewheel scrollable windows

4. Give up & clear a download after so much inactivity, possibly try another host if file is available from another host.

5. If you're not going to allow resuming from different hosts, then give the user the option to delete incomplete files. No sense in collecting them.

Finally.. focus less on built in players and chatting and all of this kind of stuff. There are plenty of other softwares available to do all of those things, probably better. Why not just make use of them?

Not so finally I guess.. hehe, a cool feature that would be cool to do in a perfect world, where something like this would be easily implemented would be to have the client test and checksum the files that it is sharing before they are shared. Test the integrity of zip/rar/ace/pdf/doc/avi files. Files that do have a beginning and end in their specification. That would be nice, but hard to do I imagine.

Anyway, maybe offer one or some of these features in a Pro version as some incentive to buy it. I don't know, good work all the same, keep it up.

SHA1-hashes will come in 3.0.0

> 2. User definable extension criteria. (Ie. Define what extensions make up the "Documents" group)

Which extensions have been left out?

> 3. Mousewheel scrollable windows

Get Sun's JRE 1.4

> 4. Give up & clear a download after so much inactivity, possibly try another host if file is available from another host.

LimeWire will already try another host, if the first download is inactive or not.

Go to the Library-Panel, you can delete them there.

Thanks for the reply, and on the subject of user definable groups, I just think it would be nice to be able to make your own or add/remove extensions from a group.

Also, something to handle it's reaction to files that either a. already exist, or b. are currently being downloaded. Like a default action, so that you don't have to respond to 5,000 popups.

That's right, the popups are really annoying, - I'll try to fix this (if the LimeWire developers let me ;-) ).

I agree completely. Strip these parts out and concentrate on making the program better at what it's supposed to do.

Does anyone even use the built-in player? I tried it once and it was choppy as hell. You gotta figure, everybody who used Napster back in the day had to get an audio program, and most of us still have them.

Lightbulb popups

Those popups are extremly annoying how about updating the download URLs instead of bugging the user.

I would really like to see the estimated time remaining.

Stop all of this extra feature crap like the built in mp3 player. When I use the program all I want to do is share files. All that it does is wasts the programmers time and my hard drive space. If I want to listen to MP3s or watch movies I"ll use Winamp or Media Player not some limited, choppy, built-in player.

How about LimeWire Basic and LimeWire Deluxe. (Yes, yes, it would mean you'd have Basic, Deluxe, Basic Pro and Deluxe Pro - oh well... )

Basic would do just P2P without bells and whistles. I would think it would be faster and smaller - these are good things.

Like others, I do not need or want my P2P client to be a toaster oven or a shoe polisher. In fact, I don't anyone remotely savvy user who wants LimeWire to play media. I/We/They tend to use specialized apps that work better at the job they are purpose-designed for.

Also, I would add my vote for the ability to define/control which file extensions comprise which 'groups'. Heck, give me the option to create/customize my groups and their defs.
