Restart Button (and a force resume that doesn't crash LW) Of all the features missing from LW, some mechanism for regaining a lost "busy" or immediately restarting a download stalled at 0K/sec. is the one I want to see most (except, of course, getting rid of those damned Morpheus UP's). For instance, right now, I have no downloads going and a lot of busy signals. A good number of them have turned into requeries. To get them to start again, I have to quit the program and immediately start again. Then most of those dead busy signals are back and I have a better chance of getting a download. Often, a stalled download will resume, or it will show the requery, indicating that the host has gone offline. But at least it isn't hung at 0. I have had problems with the force resume button trying to keep up with a poor connection that breaks frequently and can only be restored by hitting the force resume button right after it begins to show the busy signal. If I don't use the force resume, the busy signal will remain forever. Several times this has frozen my computer and I had to do a force restart (hmm...maybe that's really what that button is all about?). Twice, this has corrupted my downloads doc. and I had to trash all my incomplete downloads. |
