re-search by hash as manual re-searching to find new hosts becomes more widely used, wouldn't it make sense to allow users to re-search for the hash of a file that's already being downloaded instead of the filename (or worse, parts of the filename)? currently, the manual re-searches by text string always yeild tons of results that have the same string in the filename but are totally different files. |
All searches by hash has just been banned, I don't think LimeWire reconsider anytime soon. |
Trying to eduacate myself here: What's a search by hash and why has it been banned? |
yeah, i read something like that on the gdf. i guess they have their reasons. it just seems in this case it would be very convenient. i'm also thinking: now that lw only returns a max of 150 search results, if searching for popular content, i would rather have 150 binary-identical results than 150 that have the same words in the name. well... Blackbird: regarding the hash... i don't want to talk BS, but it is kind of a verification string for shared files to ensure file integrity and identify files. essential for swarmed downloads. |
K, thanks. |
