Thumbs up Tooltips

I'd really like to see an option to disable the tooltips in the search result and download lists. Especially when using the mousewheel, these (extremely large) tooltips keep popping up and obscuring other information. The tooltips don't show any information that I find relevant anyway...

Good idea. I've been meaning to add that option anyways.

Is there any useful information at all in the tooltips (that we could perhaps add an 'show advanced information in tooltips' option, to keep the normal one small), or can you think of useful information that you'd like to see?

Thanks.

Although I've never used any of the info in the tooltip, I can see how it might be useful to some people. My main gripe is that it obscures other data when I run the mouse cursor over the list while scrolling.

Perhaps an idea would be to make the tooltip pop up only for items after they've been clicked on or make the info appear in a separate info panel (like the status bar in many Windows apps changes depending on the menu option the mouse is currently over -- or it displays the URL of a link when hovering in your browser).

Just the option to switch it off (or maybe 3 settings: none, simple, full) would be terrific IMHO.

Just FYI, this is now in our development version. If you right-click (or whatever the Mac equiv. is) on the table header, it'll bring up the 'column selection menu' just like before, except now it also has a 'More Options' link that leads to 'Stripe Rows', 'Sort Automatically', and 'Display Tooltips'. You can choose these options independantly for each table. The search results do not have the 'Sort Automatically' option.

By default, tooltips are now OFF for the Downloads, Uploads, and Connections tables. They're still on by default for the Search results and Library.

LimeWire 3.5.1 should be released in a couple of hours.

Default tooltips

I'd like to add my vote on this feature.
I've been using Limewire since v1.8 or thereabouts and this is the one single thing that has driven me crazy with this program.
To be able to turn off tooltip info would make this program almost perfect.
