Monitoring tab shows upload progress and status. It would be helpful to know if that "interupted" or apparantly stalled upload was fresh or stale --- I might want to leave it on line a little longer to permit a resume opportunity for a fresh item, but not a stale one.

True--I just leave that to the code to decide, and keep an eye on the results in the advanced stats. This is the only way I've found to decide if something new in my settings, version or ISP is hindering my uploads. The new version is pretty good at dropping or resuming "stalled" uploads.

You can choose to turn tooltips on in the uploads tab by right-clicking on the column headers, choosing 'More Options' and checking 'Display Tooltips'. The tooltip will have a timestamp of when the upload was started as well as the average bandwidth it's using (and some other information).
