Better programming - Limewire is too slow

Even on an 800 mhz e-mac, my Limewire Pro slows the whole system down so much that hardly any other programs can function normaly. Added to that too many crashes.

et voilà March 30th, 2004 01:22 PM

Your system has problem, backup and reformat, I have an imac 400 and all seems responsive.

Bonne chance

Agreed

My mouse cursor gets choppy and erractic when limewire is showing. Athlon 700, 512 ram. time to streamline your code guys.

I have a 2.3Ghz 1GB RAM and a 120GB HD WinXP.........it slows down my pc too. I thought when I had a 466Mhz 188MB RAM and a 80GB HD Win98SE it was normal, but this is BS. Any ideas on how my computer could still run fast like as if LW wasn't running? I have to wait a few seconds for my browser to load and going from page to page is almost like having dialup or worse.

LimeMAN

I don't think I would hold my breath on that one if they do any streamlining it will be for newer machines you might want to upgrade AMD 700 is pretty old technology.

I would like to also request better program to make limewire faster and not interfere with my system performance. When limewire is open my comp runs like utter crap. It's embarrasingly slow for a program to not only run like crap but slow down the whole computer.

LimeWire runs great on my machine. I can DL at 700KB/s and edit Photos in Adobe at the same time. Or cruse the net or anything else I want to do. The only time it will slow down the net is if I let it get up around 800KB/s then it isn't slowing down the net it is using all of the available bandwidth. So none is left for the net. And Quite frankly I haven't seen to many P2P aps that can use all of my bandwidth. But LimeWire can.:D

Ferral April 1st, 2006 06:48 PM

I suspect you have a virus or similar. Its only a little Java program, should use virtually no resources.

friend18 April 9th, 2006 04:00 PM

I dont think I have a virus because everything runs fine when limewire isn't running, but when it's open every gets slow and/or choppy.

Grandpa April 9th, 2006 04:07 PM

Have you tried DL fewer files at a time and lowering your UL bandwidth to 80% of you UL bandwidth capability.

Do a speed test and find out what your Bandwidth is.

How many files are you DL at a time.

LimeWire is very efficient and can overload your connection and computer if you get too greedy. :D
