Suggested enhancements for uploads Suggestions for new features: 1. Enable user to lock out certain IP addresses from being able to upload; in other words a "blacklist". 2. Enable user to prevent low-bandwidth connections (i.e., I don't want someone with a dial-up modem to take 2 hours to upload a file) |
I have 3.8.9 (latest?) and the bandwidth suggestion is not included--at least *I* cannot find it. |
Ahhh--let the poor guys who can't get broadband upload! We've all suffered those long sessions on a 9600 modem, right? Few use modems by choice anymore I do agree that bandwith should be allocated efficiently. The slot system is pretty rough. Proportional allocation?. . . something that lets high and low speeds upload a fair shair of the available bandwidth. Don't let the high or the low monopolize the slots. btw--you can block an host in the search pane with the right-click/control-click menus too. I thought that option used to work for uploaders once, but it's not there now. 3.8.10 is out now. The bandwidth controls are in the toos->options->uploads |
Bandwidth control I'm on 3.9.2, and all I have is a global output slider. Not quite what it needs to be in terms of BW allocation. I'd also like to see how often someone's downloaded from me and apply priority to those who I haven't served for say, an hour or so. And I'd like to be able to prioritize based on filesize/waittime- so I can get smaller, quicker upload requests outta the que and let someone else in. |
