Different Folders For Different File Types

There needs to be a way to download different types of files into specific folders. For example, C:\My Music for music & sound files, C:\My Videos for video files, C:\My Downloaded Program Setup Files for executables, and of course C:/My Documents for what else, documents.

This is on our list of possible features for LimeWire 4.2.

Thanks.

Acquisition already has that feature, so you might not need to program everything yourselves.

In case you can read code and diffs you're welcome to point out the appropriate section in the Acquisition core.

Or wheedle Mr. Watanabe to submit his first patch. ;)

arne_bab May 6th, 2004 04:23 AM

I'd love to be able to, but sadly I understand as much code as I understand chinese.

rkapsi May 6th, 2004 05:37 AM

Never mind, what I can tell so far is the appropriate code not in the "Acquisition core".

Are you using the newest code from: http://acquisitionx.org/ ?

Does he have to release all Code under the GPL or only the Core? LimeWire is not LGPL after all.

Yes.

Yes and No. Acquisition communicates via streams with the core by what he must not release the full code (only the core). Unfortunately he doesn't release the entire core code. The code for the following classes is not included in the zip file. :(

Code:

AqDispatcher.class
AqDispatcher$1.class
AqEvent.class
AqEventHandler.class
AqMain.class
ConnectionUpdate.class
DispatchThread.class
DownloadRetry.class
ReaderThread.class
ReaderThread$1.class
TransferUpdate.class
TwoMinuteThread.class

They're uninteresting for this case and I cannot see any value for LW (I've decompiled the classes). However they have maybe a little educational character and Acquisition users could use them to update the core on their own. All in all no fair play by Mr. Watanabe...

arne_bab May 6th, 2004 12:32 PM

That explains why I wasn't able to compile acquisition with that code :(

I wanted to change just the built-in list of GWebCaches, so that it would only connect to those I had put online myself (I wanted to test which difference that would make).
