I've been playing around with LimeWire OSX for about a year now, and I love it but there are definately some improvements that are badly needed!
New Features:
1) Add a button for the "Search More" ->
REPEAT SEARCH and
GET MORE RESULTS functions, please and thank you! It sucks using the Contextual Menu via keyboard & mouse combo to issue each command for us Mac users with the standard one button mouse!
2) Please DEFAULT the
Ultra-Peer option
OFF for 1st time installs. This would be the number 1 turn off for Mac users with dial-up modems that end up waiting 2-3 minutes for a command to work and waiting endlessly for messages because their bandwidth & memory threads have been flooded. Most never use Limewire again after their experience with the spinning cursor going on endlessly.
The second biggest LimeWire OSX complaint would the slow start-up time. But that would strictly be a mute point because of the Java backbone of LimeWire OSX, it's always slow!
3) Is there any hope of adding some mini controls or buttons to the
MONITOR window instead of forcing us to constantly keep changing the settings from the preferences? For example a mini bandwidth slider, a small edit box for the slots and user amounts. And to take it even further, a BAN or BLOCK button for downloaders you don't like.
I personally hate the losers with nothing but lame PORNO ads named to whatever filename you were searching for.
4) Another P2P program on the Mac OSX side called Poisoned has the ability to not only connect to the
Gnutella network, but it can also connect to the
giftd ,
Ares ,
FastTrack and
OpenFT networks. As far as I know all 5 network types appear to very similar and are Gnutella friendly.
Is there any hope of LimeWire doing the same in the future?
5) In the
CONNECTIONS window, is there any chance of adding a speed indicator for the "Ultra-Peers" ? Currently my only option is to browse each one manually and then remove all the slow ones. And to expand even further, could there be a preference setting or checkbox to automatically only allow fast Ultra-Peer connections. I've noticed by experimenting and only keeping the fast Ultra-Peers connections that were using LimeWire Pro produced the fastest and most reliable searches for me.
And thanks for a great program that only get's better each update!
