These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

Mango's Top 10 Laundry List of LimeAids Hokey smokes! over a thou postings in this nook of the board alone. I'm a longtime limer, first-time poster: Lessee, first, I'll get my vitals outta the way: running 4.1.2 Pro on Panther and on a first gen. 466 MHz G4 with 896 Megs SDRAM Used to hate this software...called it alternately LameWare and LemonWire. But now since I've migrated to X I've gotten to love it, but still see major room for improvement: Since there are Sooo many posts here it is impossible to find if ALL of these have been covered before or not, so without further ado, here is my Top Ten wish list for, say, LW 5pointO 10 - Dunno about anyone else, but in other software programs, I enjoy the ability to mark records and organize them in multiple ways, usually color-coding is the easiest & most visual metaphor (to wit, Finder's labels). If color-coding could be built into all panes (search, download, upload, connected hosts, incompletes), I'd be WAY more in control of my search organization and the files extant on my local volumes. 9 - I think a needed filter or pref ought to be for the end user to be able to select which file formats he/she wants INCLUDED in the searches (obviating the use of those anemic, and very limited, exclusions which are unnecessarily harder). Say, one wanted ONLY .ogg files and no .wma or .mp3s. Why should the user have to wade or devote search bandwidth to useless files? 8 - Why no date column in the Library tab's panes? I could really use knowing when certain incompletes were attempted (I'd trash older ones and keep & re-attempt the more recent ones, but as it stands now I cannot tell which are which) 7 - Movable search tabs (so I can organize the searches on my screen in any order I'd like) and while you are at it, provide the user the option of stacking search tabs as was the metaphor in previous LW versions (now if you want that feature you gotta apply ungodly skins, which among other things, besides using egregious color combos, resort to the old proprietary - and cumbersome - non-Mac-standard LW menu system). I hate, hate, HATE the current linear search tabs!!! The old system was FAR more elegant, even IF it did crowd me from time to time vertically (in which case, I'd begrudging opt for the linear format, but immediately toggle back once screen turf was ceded by the lower panes). 6 - In WAY older versions of LW, all grouped results could be un-collapsed into their individual hosts, but...no longer, a real step backwards for the citric P2P app. If the dominant host in a grouping is messed up for whatever reason, I would prefer to choose another host in that grouping but short of mousing over and trying to grok the IPs IF that even works (it isn't infallible). 5 - In congress with point #6, there used to be a CONSISTENT notation of the host IP in a column in the search pane (now many of them are not listed or masked as multiple(1)s with no reveal upon mouseover. Not only that but the download pane ALSO showed the host from which that dl'd file came or that dling in progress file was coming. This was handy for a number of reasons (if you had to abort searches and continue later, and you wanted to search for that IP specifically). 4 - It'd be nice if there were SOME multi-alert system for when LW is running in the background. In my pipe dreams, I'd make the dock lime glow & throb green when a connection is established (bright green for turbo & dull green for weaker connex) and maybe shrivel up or glow red when the connection is down. AND make the icon optionally bounce when a new file has downloaded (especially helpful for slow connections or huge files). 3 - If you discover a host that routinely is a problem node (mislabeled files, corrupted or just badly done files, etc.) the end user ought to be able to "mark" that host so that they are excluded from any future searches. A "not" filter, as it were. 2 - Why no true Boolean searching? the current filters are fer s***. Rather than returning results that match ALL your criteria, they return results that match ANY and given the sheer quantity of tuneage out here that is often an unmanageable list of results. Lots of times results are returned that cryptically match NO search criterion. Go figure..... And the number one feature I'd love to see implemented into the next build of LimeWire: 1 - As IS mentioned elsewhere, I am very behind saved searches, a "like duh" no-brainer. If you crash or just have to close down a session for whatever reason, it is a real pain to bring up old searches again., N'est-ce pas? Maybe the ability to bookmark favorite searches and hosts like general purpose browsers do would do the trick. But also saved current searches in the case of crashes. And a more robust recovered download in the case of said crash while you are at it, guys. Many (most) of mine "disappear" upon reconnecting even if it is nigh on immediate. You can't tell me that all them hosts crashed too, or that I scared them away. ;-) |

I like the idea of regular expression searches too. Like quotes if I want exactly that keyword and no hits for files with similar keywords. Plus I would like to specify that I would want some keywords not to occur in the hits. An OR operator would not be necessary IMO but nice as well. |

Ooh, ooh, I get it now. Yeah, I see how the saved searches would work. And the ban thing too.
