grouped names what about grouping or ungrouping file names (sorry for my english) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/images/icons/icon6.gif |
That's a great link. lol :D The earlier versions of LW had this option. I was disappointed they took it out. See: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...light=grouping |
In fact grouping is STILL present in LimeWire, however multiple hits for the same file are no more shown in a tree-like structure: this had too many performance issues when updating the tree, and it used really too much memory. So you see now only one entry that groups all files with the same content. May be LimeWire could have a "details" view for the selected row, showing each hit in that group, and its individual data (location, filename, meta-data). For each row in the current view, the grouped hits have the same: - file size - SHA1 signature - TigerTree data for file fragments - file content But these hits may differ in their: - filename - meta-data - host capabilities (chat...) Using such additional "details" view, could reveal the unique data for each hit (if they are not already identical). This would not need the too complicate and too expensive tree view. So I suggest instead that the Results table be simplified, with less visible columns, but the capability to show on the right side a details view where one could select one hit and see below the additional details (i.e. all the hidden columns that you don't want in the main results table). |
