![]() Lately, it seems that many long files terminate with a corrupted file message. After more then a day of downloading this is frusrating, to say the least. It would seem to be useful to take a snapshot of a downloading file once per x minutes, so that when the probelm occurs only that portion loaded since the last snapshot need be discarded. In addition, and if that's not possible: Unlike a program, a video clip might still be usible if there were a momentary defect in the file, so a bad frame or two could be tolerated. Given that, it might be okay if the program asked if the user wanted to go on when the coruption was discovered. And as far as the cause of this: Sadly, too many people have no idea of where their incomplete folder is, yet share partial files and never delete them. Is it possible that this is the source of the coruption? If Limewire will attempt to share such a file the error will then propogate into many machines, making the problem worsen. |

![]() Yes--others have noted that too. Ways to reduce/eliminate corrupt downloads are already being submitted and developed, so watch for the beta releases. (Search here for "THEX" Incomplete folders are not shared/ignored, but yes, some users put incomplete files in their shared folder, or rename the incomplete folder. Too, MediaSentry admitted in court that they distribute bogus or inoperative music files (see page 11 here. Maybe someone is doing the same with video? |

![]() I looked in my incomplete folder via explorer one day just randomly, and noticed a file with CORRUPTfilename.ext as its title, rather than filename.ext. I was bummed to see it in there cuz it was a huge file being wasteful of my space. I was glad though, to see that LW had added the CORRUPT prefix all loud to it. I can see how someone with less than good intentions could find it by browsing hosts, rename it, and distribute it as good. I'd like to see the indexed saving idea implemented, or at least an autodelete. |

![]() Corrupted files are sooo annoying, couldnt limewire just put a new icon in the available downloads screen that says if it has been corrupting, that would solve most corrupted file problems!!! and another thing, you can choose in the toolbar whether you want to share incomplete files or not, so u can just go up to the top, do that and u wont have to worry about it!! thx u guys, i have been wanting some1 to mention the corrupted files problem ![]() |
