I think should be a LimeWire download accelerator. It should works searching more sources for download, just like kazaa accelerator. Or, if there is, other type of acceleration.

I remember there was a 3rd party one for LW but it turned out to be a dud. It caused more problems than it was worth & didn't work anyway.

Search the forum for accelerator. It only worked with one Windows version & apparently crashed the computer most of the times. That was from user feedback. It apparently doesn't work anyway. It was good for people with vivid imaginations who didn't mind their computer crashing all the time.

Accelerator with Kazaa worked just fine & THAT is not what killed Kazaa. Adware & spyware killed Kazaa & Grokster. I used both & enjoyed them as well as Bearshare, Aimster, Fileshare & Napster. In all cases, except Napster was an accelerator necessary. All this talk of crashing the network----what is the network if not us. How could we overload the millions of computers and the power of those computers if we are not centralized? I enjoy LimeWire for now but as a realist know there is another program down the pike. Accerator?? It's coming.

the fool idea, is that when i search for a file, if it ever stops it just sits on the bottom like a turd. We NEED an accelerator! If the idea seems taxing, work one into the program that researches only every hour instead of constantly, but this is a necessity.

LW doesn't need one. Not if it's used wisely. I tried a softw from another network that searches forever almost & was an absolute pain. Yep it would be taxing on the Gnet. And the Gnet programmers are trying to be responsible about the way they design Gnet apps so they don't damage the network. Which would you prefer ... a program that searches endlessly & gets results back very slowly, & the downlds are very slow. Or would you prefer one that gives you quick results & quick downld speeds. Would you prefer to drive a car thru the peak hour traffic of central NY or drive a ferari on a beach or country road. lol

An accelerator is a doche idea but has a hint of an idea that may work, the abbility to find an unlimited ammount of sources seems strong. When i download MP3z n Programs all i get is one surce even if there are 30 people sharing the same file. I use pro & get this an accelerator is pointless if you want more download speeds BUY PRO.

I agree with LOTR and Night-Fire, an accelerator is a really naff idea because software accelerators only give the appearance of more speed without giving you anything.

Back in the dim and distant past I had a dial-up connection, I also got myself an accelerator which worked by caching (in my PCs memory) the next logical connection. However, if I decided to surf somewhere else, rather than the next screen page, I would loose the cache and my fake speed.

LW works by making dynamic connections, i.e. if you loose a connection to a file you are downloading LW tries to find another without interupting your download. How would you cache connections like that especially as one the many PCs you are connected to can be switched off at any time.

What is needed, if you have a slow connection, e.g. dial-up, is a faster connection, i.e. broadband (ASDL).

Nothing else will give you the speed you want.
