Changes to Delete function in LW Library

1 Attachment(s)
I request that the Delete function in the LW Library be made more difficult to apply. I've previously read someone else asking that at least a warning to made to the user. But I think it should go further making it more difficult to delete anything that's not in their incomplete folder.

I have found on the forum that some people have accidentally lost all their Library by accidentally deleting these folders or files. Some people have lost a few thousand files ... obviously a large investment of time, energy & personal value lost. http://bestsmileys.com/dead/7.gif

There's no warning right now?

There is a warning. But obviously it needs to be stronger. eg: the files you are about to delete will be erased directly from your computer & will be unrecoverable except maybe by 3rd party utilities. OR these files you're about to erase belong to your shared library. Are you sure... etc.

Something of that nature.

(Well I rarely use the Delete button, & in osx I waited several mins for the option box to disappear (Java issue I guess) but that can sometimes happen with preferences dialog warning options also.)

Not sure what you mean by "the option box" -- what did you have to wait several minutes for?

Any dialog box that opens up & not only from the LW preferences like the warning you get when you're unticking player option, or the odd occasion the Bug report, but also warnings about corrupt files or such things .. can't think of what they all are at moment. The dialog boxes that are generally a warning about your selection or warning about 'something'. These can often just sit there & clicking the yes or no or red icon for close the dialog don't have any effect for a few mins. This has been an issue for a long time .. at least going back to LW 4.1.x I'm refering specificaly to OSX here, not windows. There might also be the window turning white for some seconds. The dialog box issue happens once in a while, not everytime I use LW. Might be related to VM I don't know. I save my files to a different partition than the OS. I have 5 GB available. (Actually that's 8 GB with no programs running.)

Getting back to the original topic. Even sending the files to Recycle bin or having the option to set this. As discussed here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=37217

Re: Dialog boxes, here's an example. (Not sure what else to refer to them as. lol) It might last for 5 to 10 mins & can't choose any option during that time. (The error example was in regards to 2 files of different size but same name.) Anyone for a game of beachball. Spinning beachball on mac osx is not a healthy sign.

This is whenever the dialog pops up that it becomes the beachball, or after you click in response that it beachballs before continuing to do stuff?

I can confirm LOTR's situation often (especially when the VM is rising).

The disk thrashes for quite a while before the dialog buttons become effective.

I couldn't remember for a while whether is was before or after, but the more I thought about it I realised it's before I press the button. Even if I get in early & it appears to make the choice or the button is clicked but it still sit's there unchanged with the spinning beachball. After some time, it stops spinning ... & if I got in early then that choice was remembered. I've noticed this since the later 4.1 betas. And like Stief said, it generally happens after LW's been running for some time.
But then again .. perhaps it's both ways. I just did a bug report & when I pressed the OK button to close the window, it set into a spinning beachball ('after' I pressed it.) lol Whereas a some days ago I did a bug report & before I could press the OK button it went into a spin; ie: as soon as the bug report window came up.
