Default Definitely needs passwording

The newest limewire should for sure have a password that can protect other people from entering your media library, or better yet, the whole of limewire, i cant count the number of times i have had people download crap and videos into my file, and a password would solve this problem that i, and im sure many other people, are having

noone can upload any file to you... you have to download that file first so people can download it off of you. thats the whole p2p concept... sharing

and no, the browse host feature should not be removed nor password protected. this keeps the network moving forward.

I don't know of any way a "LimeWire" user can upload a program to you.

BUT if you leave your router on default settings and no password a hacker can come in your backdoor. But again why would a hacker target you?? Most are usually after a whole website. If LimeWire got hacked, we'd all be in trouble not just you.

although, such an upload feature like soulseek has would definatley be sweet with trusted users as per the wishlist. this would also go great with the chat/IM feature soon to come.

Sounds like MChapman11 has got a virus infection on his PC because he seems to be experiencing things no one else is.

Still, it is not the first time I have heard a newbie ask for a "password" as a "cure all".

Yea limewire, you're probably right, but we can't be sure until MChapman11 comes back with a coherant story, and not a confusing rant.

Post Finding files that he didn't download in his file.

Until you stand for something you fall for everything.

I have read a number of your replies to MChapman II about it being impossible to have files added to your personal list of downloads. I too have found this a number of times. The first time it happened I thought perhaps I had been careless in chosing the file I wanted. So I became very careful about which files I chose to download.

After thinking it through it just didn't seem possible either. I had NEVER searched for those file titles and certainly couldn't have accidently chosen to download them.

Sure enough, this morning I checked LimeWire and the files I was downloading when I went to bed. There were two more files that I know for sure without a doubt that I did not download. One was WWWrestling and another was about a race car.

Computers have been a steady part of my life since 1972 when we didn't have internet but did have dedicated power lines to run our computers. The lines the computer plugged into were strapped in so nothing could pull the plug out. A screw driver had to be used to undo the metal strap holding it in the plug.

Everything ran on dos, no guis. or happy faces then. Therefore, I know I am not the novice MChapman II is and I know what I saw.

When MChapman II talks about junk, I know how he feels. Today I downloaded a file that was to be a Queen Latifa comedy. It turned out to be VERY graphic pornography. Those are things I'd like to see regulated, as well as downloading a file for some time only to find it is ad for a movie peddler.

Thank you for allowing me to vent! MChapman II, I hope this helps validate your findings. Another password? Oh please!

then you have a virus of some sort. otherwise it noone can upload any content to you at all. limewire doesnt have this kind of feature (yet). i would advise scanning your entire system for adware, spyware, virus's etc. using avg (free.grisoft.com) adaware (lavasoft.com), and some other people recommend avast. i havent tested the last one yet. but i hear good things about it.

LimeWire cannot and does not control, endorse or monitor any messages or content on the gnutella network. everything is run by its users.
