New Feature Requests Your idea for a cool new feature. Or, a LimeWire annoyance that has to get changed. |

![]() I use limewire for downloading music videos or single tracks, but use other software like e-mule for downloading entire albums in an archive formats such as those with .zip or.rar extensions. You can then just extract the music files from that. Limewire is by hell the fastest downloading software of its sort, but it is time consuming to find out and download every track from any one album, so that is when I turn to e-mule. I don't know too well where to post this 'cos this isn't really a feature request as such, but if more people could compress albums into archive formats it would be cool, 'cos with e-mule you can sometimes sit for a day waiting for an album to come through, and with e-mule I guess it could take at most about 3 hours to download an album like that. |

![]() In my view that sort of gives e-mule the upper hand over limewire when downloading full albums, 'cos you can just extract all the music files from one .zip or .rar file and not have to worry about renaming them all or splitting them up into smaller files. As an example, if you search for "Dr Dre -The Chronic", hopefully it should come up, I put it in my shared folder. It is just a normal archive file so you would have to enter the search under the "Programs" tab. Then, once the search has started select the file type, "rar", and that's my one. Another plus is that when you download items in archive formats, it is compressed, so might take slightly less time to dowload (but still doesn't quite beet limewire in speed...) And as a side question, is there any sort of software in which you could open up a normal .mpg movie file, and edit it, and reasonably straight forward to use? By editing it I mean like cutting out small chunks of useless garbage at the beginning or the end of the movie clip, like advertisments. Last edited by BDF; August 29th, 2007 at 03:26 AM. |

![]() Actually, the album "Dr Dre -The Chronic", that comes up in the search is not mine, I don't know why mine isn't coming up, something else to get sorted. The one that does come up is still an example of a compressed album though, so anyone can take a look at it if they are interested. |
