Publik Chat (IRC Protocol)
 

Guys, let me tell you something, i've been using E-Donkey and Morpheus (both with Irc ublik chat enabled), and u see, what i expect of them to be in Lw in a short while, (and what i miss of those mentioned upper) is the publik chat, i miss it cuz it could entertain you while you download, get possible instant solutions, and much more, i think the developers could implement it on the publik release of the next version of something...
Help me promote that by voting in the poll please, and if youre reading this, and you are a Lw developer, please, please, try to implement that function...

AFAIK such a thing won't be introduced soon. At present they are trying to improve the Chat function since it hasn't really been updated in several years. On top of that, in the new beta it's non-functional so they are looking at getting it back into operation. Hopefully by the time the next beta comes out. But that's just the chat as has been.

Ok, i should wait for it...

Oh, men!!!...

I posted this a while back in wrong forum though I would love to see this feature in the next version Limewire. It is is a necessity in todays evolution of progams that depend upon the internet for survival. For one it will cut down on resources maitaining forums,also as stated above by Darkguy instant solutions for clients and more available resources are provided for the client by this way of instant communications especially when concerning downloads or information. Therfore in my opinion this is a very much needed feature (not just one on one) that needs to be address in future versions. So I insist any one reading this thread please vote YES to show that this a very much needed feature.

As i am the founder of this proposal, i'll try to contact, at least one of the developers for convincing them to enable the publik chat, but, EVERYONE that reads this post, i ask you encouragely to vote yes on my poll, that will demonstrate that Lw users are really interested on this, and maybe, they will push theyrselves to make it...

You're not the very 1st to suggest it. ;) It's been suggested in the New Features Request section before. Also at the LW beta forums. http://www.limewire.org/forum/showth...hlight=chat%2A

If you do a forum search for chat* specifically in the New Features Request section, you end up with 5 pages of results of threads. ie: 113 threads

Maybe creating an exclusive Lw related chat server, for chatting about Lw things only, and then implementing the true chat tech in Lw, maybe that will work mostly for now...

FrostWire has already developed a far superior chat format. But since we're in the LW forums I can't expand upon that too much, but to suggest the same will probably flow through to LW.

You don't understand me, as the devs. of Lw are so occupied, just create a server dedicated to Lw-only chatting, or a channel, on an already created server, that could be accesed by IRC clients (like X-chat, or if you use Firefox, then use ChatZilla, an extension)...
That should be a great improvement...

Yeah, I've wished this existed for ages. It would be so cool to be able to talk to other users without a message out of the blue, and if a search isn't turning anything up "hey, anyone got / remember / what's the name of.. " it would be an invaluable search tool, and give an incentive for users to be on Limewire if they're not going to download anything..

I guess we'll all have to wait for that magic release.
