Safety idea I just thought about this. I noticed that LImewire warns us about something that could be corrupted or harmful, but doens't know for sure, just warns us. I think there should be something like a scanner, to make sure the file isn't a virus, corrupted, or fake. That way, more users will get it knowing there is a lower chance of getting something bad into your computer |

What Midnight Pharaoh said. My experience so far w/ 56k modem topping out @ 3-4 kb/s.... download, scan, delete. Download, scan, delete, etc, etc. Out of, oh, a dozen attempted downloads...one was clean. In house scanning (a la Hotmale) would be a boon to us out in the boonies types with no access to high speed (not to mention the tech illiterati). Perhaps the ability somehow to right click in the search result field and utilizing our own AV? Although I guess I'd have to say judging from the lack of input in this thread perhaps it's not a prob for most, my frustration level forced me to vent my spleen. I like everything about Limewire except that in my admitedly brief experience (couple of months) virtually everything seems to be contaminated. Perhaps this could be a pioneering coup for Limewire. The leader into the brave new future world of a viral free web. |

There's never been an OSX virus AFAIK. And OSX has been around since 1999. Regardless of apple computer, if it runs osx it's safe. Prior to osx there were some much older mac viruses. Although I came across those mentioned from fellow students, I've never encountered one on the internet in any form or fashion. Windows viruses are well ... a plague. And for windows users of course we all have to be diligent. I scan my files regardless, even though 99.99+% of the virus definitions are for windows. |

yeah well there were viruses on limewire. I downloaded one, but then virus barrior caught it and repaired it, didnt' work. My computer began to act werid, but then it delet ed it and I was fine. Still there should be some sort of scan, cause some can be like hidden and not noticed. Esepcially for those peopel who have no idea what is going on. This is mainly for windows, I am not referring Mac much, but they should have it. Although they are safe from them, that doesn't mean they can get it. |
