Use Bitzi to check the file before download.
How to use Bitzi

Also preview the file after about 10% download...that way you'll see what it is & don't have to download the whole thing if it's crap:laugh_2:

The preview feature just isn't working for me any more. It still works on mp3s, but not video files.

But I'll look at Bitzi. Thanks. :)

What player are you using? Have you tried previewing directly from the incomplete folder rather than from the LW library (click on Incompletes then click Explore...incomplete folder opens)?
VLC player won't preview from within LW's library (unless you're using the 4.13.0 Beta), maybe some other players have the same problem.

I have used every player I have. I have tried on the files too, they are just being made wrong for some reason. The players I have will play video files that are completed, but not the preview files that are created for them.

I'm using version LW Pro v 4.12.6 (latest)
Media players I have tried are Windows Media, Nero Showtime, CyberLink PowerDVD, WinAmp, Acer Arcade, and some xvid one that I no longer have here.

I'm sure it's just messed up. Maybe if I get an earlier version of LW.

Try abj's fix in post #26 here
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...&highlight=tab

Or, if you like, you could try VLC player (you might be sick of trying all these different players but it's just a suggestion). It's free & very reliable. Choose the nearest mirror for download.

You'll have to launch/preview files from their folders outside of LW;)

Oh, wow. Well I tried VLC and it actually worked to open the preview video files. That's just wonderful. Now I will always know if its what I'm looking for or just porn.

Thank you, birdy.

Thanks again birdy. VLC really worked even though all those others didn't. I wish it had a controller in full screen, though.

I'm glad it worked:D

Check out the wiki...

...and also the videolan forum
http://forum.videolan.org/

for tips on using the player. There may be ways of controlling it in full screen mode...I wouldn't know how, I'm not too familiar with all of it's functions:o
