Default 99% complete for several days?

I just want to finish this file transfer. It's torturing me to see it continue at 99% for so long. I feel when I finally get it, it will just be bogus any way.

It would be much better if people had precedence if they have files that are almost finished, or that have been almost finished for some time. Instead I'm still waiting in line at Position 1 or 2, or waiting on busy host, and I imagine others are downloading from this host when they have transfers that have just started.

Use Bitzi to check videos BEFORE you download them!

How to use Bitzi

If it's not listed in Bitzi, there's a good chance it's a bogus file...in this case, preview the file when it hits 10% (go to your incomplete folder and open up the file there).

Hope this helps

Right...
This topic is not about the validity of files, but how I feel you should get precedence if you are almost done with your transfer. Precedence over users who are just starting a transfer. Doesn't it make more sense to wrap up tasks that are just about done?

Off topic, this was a bogus file. It turned out to be just a stupid, nasty porn flick.

Also I can't get the preview feature to work on my laptop anymore. Maybe it's the new version of LW. It used to work though. It just creates a video file of what you have so far.

Here's a pic

Unhappy

I use the Tools/Options/Uploads/Slots to gracefully close down LimeWire, changing the number of "Uploads per person" to 0, and saving the change. Then, when the current uploads drain out, I change the value back to 5 and close out LimeWire. That way, noone acquiring files from me is ever "left hanging" ... by me! When circumstances arise beyond my control, such as power outages that take my computer down, I bring LimeWire back up as soon as possible, so that accesses that were interrupted by my sudden departure may be picked up and completed. There are times when I must leave quickly, and cannot leave my system up. Once again, when it is possible or me to do so, I bring LimeWire back up in hopes that the transfers that were summarily cut off may be resumed and completed.

So it irks me when my own acquisitions are cut off ... particularly when over half way complete (I have had close to 200KBps in transfers going on (both ways) at times, and acquired a single file from multiple sources at over 140KBps) and could have it completed in less than 2 minutes! Currently, I have been waiting for a source to re-appear for a small file (2,432KB) that is 81% complete ... for almost 30 days!!! Obviously, that file is a very obscure (and rare!) song by an obscure (but talented) group ... and I have found only two sources for the song. (I gave up on the other source after 3 weeks 'stuck' at about 20%.)

My point is that users should be more considerate of those accessing their shared files. If you don't want to share, why use LimeWire at all?!?

Dude, that's not a bogus file. It's in .avi format right? You need to download a divx player to play that.

Sometimes they are just junk, and can't open with anything. You can take a text document or any kind of file and change the .txt extension to .avi

In a folder view, hit tools / Folder Options. On the View tab you see an option "Hide extensions for known file types"

I'm no longer concerned with getting bogus files, cause now I can preview again, with VLC media player. http://www.videolan.org/

But back on topic.. I think the time you've been waiting for a download, and how close you are to the end should be a factor.

A smart program would say: "Oh you been trying to get this for a long time ($now - $timestarted / $totalbytes), and you are almost done? Well go ahead of these guys who just started.."

I don't know if this is a viable solution. Maybe it was just a concidence about these extremely long transfers.
