Resume download doesn't work properly! I'm running Limewire 2.2.4 on Mac OS 9.2.2 The resume function is absolutely essential on modem dialup connections as the chances are the line will go down during any reasonable-sized download. In Limewire, it doesn't work properly. Firstly, the Connect function in the file menu doesn't seem to work - you have to do it manually by adding connect1.gnutellanet.com (or other similar addresses) in the connection window. Secondly, the Force Resume button doesn't seem to do anything Thirdly, Limewire almost never manages to recognise incomplete files and invariably begins to write a new copy - which if the incomplete file is 28Mb of a 30Mb file on a modem dialup connection makes you want to throw the computer out of the window. I've tried trashing the new file and giving the previous version the same filename, but that doesn't work. Limeware should store the IP addresses (from the search) of all the servers that had the partially downloaded files in the Incomplete folder. There should be a resume button in the Library window which you can click on to automatically reconnect and resume an incomplete download by cycling through the stored list of IP addresses. There should also be an option to automatically search for the file if the servers are no longer available. You should be able to double click on an incomplete file and Limeware should automatically open and resume downloading the file. |

"You should be able to double click on an incomplete file and Limeware should automatically open and resume downloading the file." YES! Please! Better yet, have a setting where Limewire can search for incomplete files (during periods of inactivity?) and grab the ends of the files as it finds them. But at least, if you double click on a file in the Incomplete folder, it should try to find the rest of it. Playing it at that point makes no sense. |

Pretty much the same thing happened to me... I was downloading a 30MB file "with dialup", and at 29MB I was frozen by a damn popup from a website I was at. Oddly enough, my files seem to resume downloading. The CATCH!, is that if a system error occurs, then it resets the download to 0%, leaving the incomplete download sitting there in the folder. What the hell?? This as far as I know is the biggest problem Limewire has. I'm afraid to download big files because of the possibility of a freeze or error, and the fact that my resume doesn't always work. I hope they make some add-on to the program that we can download that fixes this problem. |

ARE INCOMPLETE WORTH SAVING ? I am using 2.3 - I have tons of 100 - 500 mg files in the incomplete folder with no apparrant way to resume download? They are not auto-resuming as is clearly states in the user guide. Is something else required of me? I would pay the $8.50 and go PRO if there was some indication that a full featured product could be offered here. However, it seems that as poor as other gnutella client interfaces are - at least many of them have much better RESUME features. Somebody is going to figure this ALL out soon, put it all together and CONTROL this market. |

Are incomplete worth saving I am in the same position with the large file sizes & I am using the pro version, at one point I managed to get up to 6GB in the incomplete folder. I am also finding problems with deleting some of the files, even after completing a full reboot & completing the deletions from the dos prompt I still have 0 byte files which the system tells me are in use. I have now set file retention to 1 day to stop my machine filling with files that can not be used this has helped with the symptoms of the problem but it would be nice to fix the problem itself. |
