Question

Well, I have tried connecting to the various hosts listed, but I only get about 1 connection, which stays only for a short while and then vanishes. I have tried 6346, 8080 and actually got a successful search using "*.mp3", which returned a lot of songs. Every other search I tried was unsuccesful. On the successful search I couldn't download anything because it kept stopping after about 4% completion. Am I a bit thick? Or is something else - like no one was on the system?

I would appreciate some help, as I am as keen as anything to see this project succeed and rise out of the ashes of Napster!

Bout time the greedy musicians and music biz gave something back (ask me about Live Aid? No dont!)

Okay, Peanutdog, I try to help you:

I donīt know why your searches fail, but you can try this: Before you begin with a search, press the "Reset Connections"-Button. Then wait untill you have 3-5 Connections under "okay". After this begin the search. Be not so specialized with your search... e.g. try "Jones" instead of "Tom Jones itīs not unusual...". This should help you...

When you begin to download, the speed often goes down to "stopped". Then "cancel" the download und immediatly "resume" it. It could be, that know the "server busy" message appears. Someone else took your place to download something. No Problem, just wait, because Newtella will try to reconnect several times...

Okay, I hope I helped you a little bit. And donīt forget to change the "hostcache"...
