Default Uploads freeze

I've started to feel really guilty!!!!

For some time now, I've noticed that uploads seem to come to a sudden and abrupt end.

For no apparent reason, the upload just freezes, still registering as uploading, but at 0Kb/S

I leave them for a while to give them a chance to continue, but then kill the upload after it's frozen for 15mins or so; after that, no further uploads.

I feel like I'm cheating or something, not giving back to the community!

What's going wrong???

Dave E.

How many upload slots do you usually have? What kind of internet connection do you have? are you behind a firewall?

I'm on a 56K dial-up, 2 upload slots, (More would be impractical), and yes, I'm behind Zone Alarm, giving full server rights to LimeWire.

OS is Win98SE

Does this help

Don't allow more than one upload, kill uploads at 0k. - There's probably no way to prevent 0k-uploads to happen, if you are on 56k. When somebody is downloading lots of files with a higher transfer rate, than his connection can handle, the slow downloads are throttled first, maybe even to 0k, - and that could be one of your problems.

I don't think, that ZoneAlarm, except for being completely useless, is a problem, if you are running LimeWire with server rights.

Thanks VM. I don't know if it;s a complete reply, but is better than anything else I've heard from other sources.

I think you're being a little unfair on Zone Alarm though; it has trapped a few, attempts at hacks, with a little assistance from IPE virus scanner even Symantec's scan gave the impression that my system was reasonably safe,
