Why can't I chat with any of the hosts am I doing something wrong?

i am using lime wire and when i press chat nothing happens so i right click and go to chat with host and nothing happens, it makes me very angry!

The other end must:

1) have chat capabilities (only other LimeWire clients)
2) have chat enabled in his/her client (some prefer not to have chat enabled)
3) must be willing to chat

Limewire guide says when you push chat button, and window will appear, it has nothing that I was able to find confirming your guidelines.
Please include your source.

Perhaps the intent is for you to select CHAT... step away from your computer,,, and chat with someone... sort of like a hold button on a phone.
