Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. OOPs it happened with out media player playing. All i have to do is to shut down lime wire and here comes trouble. which version of LimeWire are you running??? despite the fact that it crashes the KERNEL32.DLL (which is a windows lib) I guess you have problems with the runtime environment. Since I'm sure you don't have a seperat JRE installed on your computer you are probably using the Virtual Machine coming with the limewire executable for windows. (say NO if something I gues here is not true). In this case you should try to reinstall LimeWire (uninstall before doing the reinstall!) you might have to download the LimeWire Installer again. there is a second way however. You might install the above mentioned JRE from sun. in this case LimeWire will use the JRE instead of the virtual machine... bla bla... try the first way if it does not help get a JRE from here http://java.sun.com/1.4/download.html mahalo |

Thank you for your imput. I am sorry to say that I have no clue as to weather I have a virtual machine or not for as to this moment I have never heard of such a thing. So I think what I shall do is uninstall and download from sun. I do thank you and I will let you know if it makes a diffrence. PTTNH Zatoon |

Sorry my fault! I forgot a part of the link here is the right one: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/download.html You should look up the row of your operating system on the left and then use the DOWNLOAD link on the left ('JRE' column). the above is not LimeWire it is just what you need to run Java Applications. It is called a Java Runtime Environment (JRE). This is basically a 'layer' between the Java application and the hardware of your computer. usual programs don't need that 'layer' but they are dependent on one operating system. With Java you have a 'layer' for all operating systems and that way you can run any java program on any java-able machine. this is why this 'layer' is often called virtual machine - it simulates a computer (about like that). enough of this. You still need to download LimeWire and install it. The default LimeWire comes with a small virtual machine but if a JRE is installed on your system it will use it instead because it is faster. that's why I said you might as well try to uninstall and reinstall Limewire first. most of the time something just went wrong during installation or the download... And this would solve the problem much faster. The JRE is about 50MB large so downloading might take a while... good luck. |

JAVA I'm new to limewire, but I know a little bit about computers. JAVA (created by Sun Microsystems) takes up a little bit of processing space. Running Windows 89 could be a problem. It's a good OS, but XP is a lot better (fewer crashes, actually none). That's beause it's based on the NT kernal. Anyway, getting back to your situation, I suggest the following... Your computer is slow and has an old OS. So you have to try to treat it with kit gloves. 98SE is good, but it doesn't handle multitasking too well. So, the bottom line is this... Don't try to run more than one program at a time. We all wish we had 'super-fast' computers (mine is a P4 at 2.2 Ghz with DSL), but money prevails. Hope this helps. Very best regards, Bob |
