Question Pro's and Con's: Lime Wire Pro

I'm thinking about purchasing Limewire Pro. Does anybody here have it and do you like it? Was it easy to purchase, download, and install? Any input will be appreciated.

Thumbs up The Nuts and Bolts

Limewire Pro is definately the way to go. I purchaced it and absolutely love it ... mostly for the marked lack of advertising. Its features are no different that regular limewire.

It seems faster without the banner advertising though. Despite comments that they do not bog a system down, they do, they eat memory and bandwidth ... both useful things

Anyway ... Limewire Pro rules ... I'd go for it.

Thumbs up

Spend the $9.50 to get the spyware-free version

installation is a breeze, you can go ahead and download the latest java JRE (1.4) from Sun as recommended on the download page, but the LimeWirePro installer will tell you that it needs JRE v1.3.1 to run and then proceeds to install it for you -- that's the only confusing part

The fact is that LimeWire and LimeWire Pro do all of the same things in exactly the same way when it comes to filesharing, but I knew that when I bought Pro, and I'm still glad I did. I bought Pro for one reason, because the people at LimeWire had the courage and forsight to release the source code to LimeWire. It shows that LimeWire truely believes in the network for which they are providing software.

This is in stark contrast to Morpheus which is temporarily piggy-backing on the Gnutella desperately trying to keep their userbase while they try to find the best way to eke every penny from their users in any and every way they can.

In short, buy LimeWire Pro because it's the right thing to do.

It's great... No spyware...No banner ads... Seems faster than Basic Limewire... All the features appear the same... Easy to download install and run...

Go for it

I have used many Gnunella clients. One feature that is either missing, or sub-standard, is the search feature in Lime Wire.

You should be able to see all peers on the network, whether morheus, kazaa, or whatever. I have noticed that LW doesn't show all possible instances.

I like kaaza lite. No banners or spyware. And it shows all Gnuella users, including limewire.

Kazaa lite does not connect to the gnutella net, it only connects to the FastTrack network. This consists of kazaa, grokster and fileshare (?). LimeWire will connect to all of Gnutella, including morpheus/gnucleus, bearshare (when their new security thing is off), xolox, and others. But, if you can't find the search feature, that would present a problem . . .
