Deceptive deletion of files I copied some audio files from my hard-drive to the Limewire shared directory file. Then I deleted them from the shared directory file, but only to find that they had dissappeard entirely from my computer. There was no warning that this would happen. I only wanted to delete them from the Limewire program, not from my computer. Now they are gone forever and I am really angry! Why did this happen? WHY!?!?!?! |
The ‘library’ is not a folder that actually exists in the Limewire program. I’ve heard the Library referred to as a file manager, but I prefer to call it a mirror of the files you have on your hard drive, the default for this is C:\Program Files\Limewire\Shared. :) |
Yes, the library is not akin to windows media 7/8 or musicmatch, but more like a convenient windows explorer. This is simply how most p2p programs work, and it makes sense. That way, users don't delete all their files in the library, and wonder what happened to their 100mb of hard drive space, since they see nothing in the library, but the files would still exist without their knowledge of location to permenantly delete. I do think LimeWire would benefit with a "My Shared Folder" desktop shortcut, with less bonzi buddy and casinos. But, we all gotta make a livin' somehow. :) |
