Search-detect server somewhere on Limewire network? I did a search on the network tonight for the word "strata" and found these results: !!YES!!_strata zip 296KB T1 !!YES!!_strata rar 288KB T1 !!SETUP!!_strata exe 251KB T1 which I thought a little odd. then I did a search for "markz" and got these results: !!YES!!_markz zip 296KB T1 !!YES!!_markz rar 288KB T1 !!SETUP!!_markz exe 251KB T1 I can only assume these files will install porn spyware or some such thing if you download them. Since I refuse to download them I can only assume. But its too bad to see this. I fear pretty soon there will be LOTS of it. |
clarification What I meant to say... was that someone is hacking into the network to find our searches, then has a script running which RENAMES his porn spyware or whatever it is, to the exact word you are searching for, and then copies those files to the Shared directory and returns the result to the client performing the search. THAT's what is a shame to see. |
Yeah, those are really annoying. Just add the guy's IP address to your blocked list. Right click on the sorting bars at the top of the search results and check off location to see the IP. Not much else you can do. |
