Default Experimental LimeWire

I wanted to announce that I just put a new version of my slightly modified LimeWire client (which has the ability to block Morpheus) online. -

LimeWire just added initial skin support (it's not perfect, yet) so if you want to see, what's waiting for you in the next version, - download it here:

http://mitglied.tripod.de/mdsgeist/LimeWire.zip

unpack and run the runLime.sh or the run.bat file. (The run.bat file for windows has not been tested, it may or may not work).

It will not run on Mac or MacOSX.

Hey - come on - this is silly - morpheus users are just not that bad

I alternate between LW and Shareaza and (particularly with shareaza for some reason) simply don't find morpheus nearly as bad as some of the rather hysterical posts make out

sure it pays to be a bit watchfull and delete the odd useless morpheus 'ultrapeer' but I (at least) do share successfully via morpheus hosts

we've differed on this point before Krieger88 but why don't you devote more attention to how it is that shareaza is sooooo much better than LW in terms of stable bearshare connections - they're usefull !!! - if LW had the same degree of connectivity via BS hosts as shareaza does I wouldn't bother swapping between packages

Cheers, bad_vlad

1) Many users feel better blocking Morpheus, so I added the possibility to do so.

2) I don't devote much of my attention to this experimental limewire version at all, - at the moment I'm working on a command-line version of LimeWire with the customizability the Linux crowd longs for.

3) I don't care for stable BearShare connections since the LimeWire staff doesn't consider this an issue and I tend to believe their judgement here.

fair enough - seems a bit of a shame though that we've reached the point where folks want to exclude a huge block of p2p clients (and why stop at morpheus - I've never sucessfully shared via xolox lets ostracize them too) - I quite like seeing fringe clients appear on the field every now and then

I'm genuinely impressed !!

you don't think their judgement might be at all coloured by vested interest ?? - have you compared the levels of inter-connectivity of the two packages yourself? - I'm only a (grateful) user not a programmer but I do find the LW versus BS relationship odd

Smile Limewire results vs. Shareaza

Interested in results, not theory
Peerless... If you like better search results you should give Shareaza a try.... I consistently get better (a larger number of) results... I don't know the reason but I suspect it is due to the fact that Shareaza appears to continue to search for an extended period of time. Don't get me wrong... Limewire is my favorite... but I am blown away by Shareaza in apparent performance... I suspect the Limewire folks are trying to respect the citizens of Gnutella by not spending as much time searching... resulting in lower overall traffic on the net, actual download performance appears to be about the same in both products.

EXACTLY !!! - I too am really impressed by shareaza - and yes have also noticed the longer shareaza searches mean more potential file choices

I also agree that the end result in terms of actual downloads is much the same across the two packages - but - I remain intrigued by the fact that in shareaza LW hosts are NOT the star performers (BS are "in my experience - end of story")

I am also intrigued at the notion of "turbo ultrapeers" in shareaza

Interesting times ahead it seems
