Location of incomplete files I share the directory c:\docs\My Music Limewire creates the sub-directory c:\docs\My Music\Incomplete and populates it with duff files (incomplete files). This is inconvenient because it is a pain to keep these duff files out of playlists. In the belief that it is my problem I did not see fit to mention it here. I now realise that Limewire is liable to share the duff files. Yesterday someone downloaded a file of zero length from my incomplete directory. There were a lot more files in the incomplete directory than Limewire displayed in the download list. To alleviate the problem I deleted the incomplete directory and let limewire start afresh. This is no real solution, how can I direct these temporary files to a temp directory well away from my good files ? |
That happened to me once where the incomplete folder was in my shared folder. Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling. The incomplete folder should be in your LimeWire folder, but not in your shared folder. You shouldn't delete your incomplete folder as it holds the information from your last session. When you start LimeWire again, if you have a partial download of a file, it will pick up where it left off. If you delete it, you have to start all over again. I hope this helps. As I am a Mac user, I can't give much more information about moving files in Windows. Sorry. |
Hello: I think Julie is correct that you are sharing your incomplete folder. By having your incomplete files in a subdirectory of a shared directory. You want them in their own directory that isn't shared. Try deleting the "incomplete" directory entirely and see if Limewire doesn't write a new "incomplete" directory in the Limewire folder. Norm |
I have just deleted the incomplete directory again and re-installed Limewire, all is OK. I think I have figured out why Limewire repeatedly re-created the incomplete directory inside my shared directory. This time around it uses c:\docs\My Music c:\docs\incomplete i.e. Limewire creates the incomplete directory at he same level as the shared directory. Originally I shared and downloaded to a subdirectory of my music files c:\docs\My Music\ogg LimeWire saw fit to choose c:\docs\My Music\incomplete As the temporary directory. When I changed the shared directory up a level, Limewire stuck with the same place for the temporary files and thus I got a problem. Even when I deleted the incomplete directory Limewire just stuck with it and recreated it again in the same place. I think this is a bug. Limewire should allow the user to specify where temporary files go or at least put the them in a directory intended for temporary files. |
