What is that popup box?

While online I sometimes get a popup box asking my username and
password. What is that? Why would something come up to ask those
when I am already logged in? I have not found any mention of it, anywhere.

Looks to me like a FTP sign in. Get it myself sometimes.

No clue why, though.

Probably the same thing.

Still no clue why, though.

Pop up Boxes-JUST SAY NO!!

I still haven't heard what these boxes are, but I entered my user name & password in one then found a hidden .dat file in my downloads folder. It was named 'SThumb' and I know I didn't download it and its not a legitimate Limewire .dat file. I've jumped to the conclusion its a keystroke monitor, if anyone else can find it I'd suggest deleting it, I think its storing your keystrokes - passwords, credit card#, stuff like that. If anyone who knows .dat files could look into this??

LimeWire has a authorization feature to create private networks within gnutella. It's deactivated by default but somebody might have activated it in the source code. This will cause older LimeWire versions to display that box.

But it happens in 2.8.6., also.

I thought they fixed it but maybe it wasn't released yet.

pop-ups

My biggest complaint is that they slow down and sometimes freeze my computer, especially when I'm printing a document and one shows up, or when I'm running Limewire in the background while I play a video game. They won't let me click on any of the Limewire tabs until I get rid of them, either. What I'd like to know is how the heck to shut them off; has anybody figured that out yet?! I never had this problem before last Wednesday when my computer crashed and I had to reinstall everything from scratch.

And if somebody is using this program to steal my passwords, through tracking my keystrokes or whatever, then I don't care if it IS the only good file-sharing utility for Macs, I'll drop it in a heartbeat.
