Non-Limewire Leaf Etiquette

I have a question. If I am an ultrapeer, I am supposed to connect to other ultrapeers. But what if a glitch happens, and a leaf of a non-limewire client connects to me. What is the etiquette for that? Do I terminate the connection? Advice would be appreciated.

Also, about how many hosts should one have connected when you're an ultrapeer?

For note, I have a DP 1.25 Ghz G4, Max OS X.2.6.

Ultrapeers are also supposed to connect to leafs (this is how leafs connect to the network). I haven't read of any Etiquette regarding who you allow other than blocking any IP that offers spam files like "awesome." Live and let live would probably be the usual etiquette.

If you are using 2.9.11, you should see about 64 connections in Network stats--the number of total hosts and files in the stats reported is only an approximation and can vary greatly at present. More reliable statistics are regularly being improved by the developers.

(nice set-up: LW version and Internet connection speed?)

I have cable, and I'm using LW 2.9.11. Everyone here has been saying 64, but i only get about 32. What's up with that? I mean, my CPU isn't overtaxed, it's rarely over 8% used by LW. My modem is pretty good; it is cable. Shouldn't I get more than my usual 32? I mean, when I hit 32, it stops trying to connect, and when below, it tries to achieve 32. Any suggestions?

As a note, I have both outgoing and ingoing compression enabled.

I like 32. Sounds like your set-up is fine. 48-64 was too much for me. Check out posts by et voilą re the 64.

I looked at the post. I have a router, if that matters, but it's on this computer, that is, I'm the host. I can't change it in any way, but for the record it's a 2wire, and I can't seem to find any way to determine what fireware it's using. I'd really like to contribute all i can to the network, and I can think I can take on more than 32 people as a UP.
