Default Why with Limewire on do I get a crappy net connection?

Okay okay, this is not a real problem but more of a general question.
I recently doubled my connection speed (1024kbps) and internet is great and all and so is Limewire, but only if I use them separately!
The thing is that with Limewire on, even if the download speeds are around the 5-6kbps mark and with upload speeds not exceeding the 20kpbs, if I start using Safari it takes tooooooooo long (ok maybe not so much) to load the pages.
I mean this is, what, 30 kbps? I have a connection capable of handling 1024! (at least in theory)

I have no firewalls and stuff like that, using Limewire 3.8.5 (maybe I should upgrade) on a G4 iMac with OSX 10.2.8 and (I think) I have the latest Java.

Oh, and ignore the "member" label: I'm still a newbie.

Salut Murasame, regarde ma réponse là/see my post here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=23786
Your dl speed is max 125KB/s but your upload speed is normally lower, in your case???. If your upload stream is all used, the downloads begin to suffer as the communication with the hosts need some of your uplaod bandwidth.

Bonne chance

Yup, I think that that's it. I lowered the upload bandwidth by 5 as you said and I get the feeling that browsing the net is slightly faster now.

Merci mec!

Btw, this actually doesn't seem to have changed anything (on the outside at least) concerning the upload speeds; they are at the same levels as before.

Regarding 'quoted' speeds...
It is usually a good idea to assume that you will actually experience a minimum 10% lower bandwidth capacity...
And, it is even more probable that you should expect the difference to be more like 15% less than 'quoted'...
Many factors cause this, not least of which is the real-world physical distance involved between 'connections'.

If you experience observed bandwidth reductions that exceed 15-18% less than quoted, you should check various things in your registry and/or maybe complain to your ISP !

Have a nice 'ping' !
