![]() In the FAQ section.. The last paragraph states that for security purposes you should NOT share your entire hard drive and Do Not run any excutable programs that are obtained from Gnutella. My questions are as follows..How can you make sure you sharing only your shared folder with the music files downloaded from limewire and nothing else on the hard drive... what are some examples of "executable programs" from Gnutella that shouldn't be run? ...I'm a novice at all this and don't understand all the terminology yet..ANNA.. ![]() |

![]() Shareing your entire hard drive is complete idiocy, agreed. Although I do have a comment on downloading EXE's through Gnet. I don't understand why anyone would even bother to do this. Getting the programs through Gnet is quite possibly the riskest way to obtain programs (which is already very risky). So why not just go to the publishers/owners website to get it? That way you can judge for yourself wheather the program you are about to download is legitamate, or not. And an active AV is a must for every computer connected to a phone line (or other means of outside communication). (And while on this subject I feel inclined to strongly advise against even looking twice at anything Micro$oft related avalable for download through the Gnet.) If you are looking for downloadable software try looking at Download.com. Just some thoughts. Good luck. deepblue |
